The author is a native of Forest, Ohio, a small town in the northwest corner of the state. He is a graduate of Findlay College, now the University of Findlay, in Findlay, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He has been a police officer for more than 44 years and was an Ohio police officer for more than 29 years, holding every position from dispatcher to Chief of Police.
After retirement in Ohio, Mr. Cramer moved to New Mexico where he served as Lincoln County Undersheriff until his retirement in 2015 . Prior to his appointment as Undersheriff, he was the commander of the Lincoln County Narcotics Enforcement Unit and the Major Crimes Unit of the Lincoln County, NM Sheriff's Office. He now lives in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mr. Cramer has also had a lifelong interest in fire service, probably growing out of his years at home watching his father, a firefighter for more than 47 years. Following his move to New Mexico, he served as Fire Chief in the Nogal Fire District, a volunteer fire department serving a 75 square mile area in central Lincoln County, New Mexico.
